Before I tell you about the exciting changes taking place here at “Threads of the Heart”, I would like to apologize for my absence over the past several weeks. Aside from some sporadic posts here and there I have been pretty quiet. You see I have been dealing with quite a few issues, including medical problems. I received word from my doctor last week regarding the biopsy results – no cancer. For the first time in several weeks, I am able to breathe again. I have a new lease on life, so to speak.
With that in mind, I have decided to do things a little bit different here on my blog. I will have:
- Mom Moment Mondays – This is where I will share a story about one of my children, a recipe or even a tip on something that works for our family
- Writing Wednesdays – This is where I will share a bit about my current work in progress, including character sketches, location and background information. Kind of an inside guide to the process.
- Fun Fridays – This is where I will share a picture, quote or song to end your week on a high note.
I look forward to your feedback about these changes. I can’t begin to tell you how much hearing from you, the reader, means to me. I’ve tried to get my puppy, Zoë, to give input on my writing, but so far no luck. This is where I am looking for you to tell me what you like and even what you think needs to be adjusted. We are in this together dear friend. As a thank you for this help, I will be giving books and other goodies away periodically. You will not want to miss out. So, be sure to share this blog with your friends.
In fact, to start things off right, I am giving away two books this week. You will receive an entry for commenting on the blog throughout the week, as well as, additional entries for following me on twitter, facebook or my blog.
For this first edition of the Mom Moment Monday, I am going to share a recipe with you. As a busy mom to five equally active kids, I look for recipes that are easy, economical and that will get rave reviews from my kiddos. Here is a recipe sure to please.
1 box cake mix (your choice, I use a plain white mix)
1/3 cup of oil
4 mashed bananas
½ cup of chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. In a large bowl, beat all ingredients together until well mixed. Pour batter into loaf pans. Bake 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
