The reflection verse for this week is Isaiah 43:1b-3a.
But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I absolutely love this passage of scripture. There are three phrases that stick out to me as I have been reflecting upon this passage.
“Do not fear” – God commands us not to fear. This is not the only time God tells us this. In fact, it is so important to God that HE tells us over 365 times throughout the Bible.
“You are mine” – Not only has God called us each by name, but states that we are HIs. No matter where we are or what we have done, God loves us beyond measure and we are His.
“I am with you” – This phrase brings me such comfort, especially over the past week. God promises to walk beside us no matter what may come into our lives – trials or triumphs – He is there through it all. Unlike some, God is not a fair-weather friend. He promises to never leave us, no matter how difficult life may become. In fact, there are many times that God is not only with us, but actually carrying us because we cannot make it on our own.
I want to share this song with you today. It is one that has brought such peace and comfort to me this week.
I challenge you today to lay your fears and stresses at God’s feet because He has called you by name and you are His. God will be with you through it all dear friend.
