Taking that First Step

According to Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose,” we are all called by God for a purpose.  No matter what the purpose is, whether in our mind’s big or small, it is important to God.  It is why we are each created with the gifts and talents that we have been given.  However, God did not create an army of robots.  We have free will.  Since we have free will, we have the decision to make as to whether we are going to step out and start doing what we have been called to do.  Some of us, including myself, are paralyzed by fear.  We do not step out because we are afraid that we will be unable to do what God has called us to do.  We are simply afraid to fail.  This fear leads to us running from God and our purpose instead of running towards Him.  Let me share with you a secret that I have discovered, God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.  He is not going to have us do something that we are not capable of.  God is right beside us every step of the way to lift us up even when we fall.  However, we each have to be willing to take that first step.  I challenge each one of you to take some time with God this next week and determine what it is He is calling you to do, what your purpose in life is.  Then, prayerfully step out and God will continue to lead and guide you towards the goal He created you for.  I am going to leave you with this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPc6nRX-x90 .  It puts this whole concept to music.  I would love to hear what God is doing in your life and if you are going to take the challenge.

  1. I love this! I’ve been going through the same exact feelings you wrote. Feeling afraid, doubting if what I’ve heard in my heart is really from God. I have this big dream and often find myself paralyzed. It’s taking lots of prayer and trusting that one step at a time He will guide me.
