Having multiple children, it is inevitable that there will be different personalities and characteristics. I just didn’t have any idea how different. Out of the five kids, we have the entire spectrum; dramatic, sensitive, emotional, compliant and strong-willed. Some characteristics are easy as a parent to understand. Strong-willed is not one of those. In fact, on more than one occasion I has left me frustrated not knowing what to do. Therefore, when the opportunity to review, You Can’t Make Me: Strategies for Bringing Out the Best in Your Strong-Willed Child by Cynthia Ulrich Tobias, I jumped at the chance.
I really didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book. However, I will tell you that You Can’t Make Me gives examples and very practical advise for embracing the personality of being strong-willed in your child. Since, Cynthia is not only a parent of a strong-willed child, but strong-willed herself, she sheds light on how to bring out the best in your child.
You Can’t Make Me is a book that I have underlined and made notes in and will keep handy for quick reference. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has a strong-willed child in their life who desires to understand this child and develop a stronger relationship.
