Go for the Gold: Christian Olympics Review

From a very early age, I dreamed of being in the Olympics.  I watched intently as the athletes performed, showing the world their gifts and talents. I longed to be the next Mary Lou Retton, flipping through the air and landing perfectly, or Dorothy Hamill, gliding across the ice effortlessly.  However, reality hit when I couldn’t land a single cartwheel or stay up on ice skates.  I thought my dreams were dashed until this passed week.  I had the privilege of not only getting a sneak peek at the Christian Olympics Wellness Games, but also participating in them.

Coach Liz leads the Christian Olympics Wellness Games.  It is an interactive game that will get the entire family involved.  Coach Liz will announce what the event for the day is, then you have the course of the day to complete it and then check into the group on facebook to help and encourage other athletes. Thus supporting the mission behind the games, which is centered on 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up….” The Christian Olympics will officially kick-off on July 26th.

What I loved about the games is that it gave me a jumping off point at the start of each day, an event to complete.  I was able to incorporate my family in part of the events.  I really like the team encouragement on the facebook group.  I felt like I had my own accountability group and cheering section all in one.  I would highly recommend that you and your family sign up to participate in this free online, interactive game. It will be a great way for you to reach for the gold and be active, while the Olympics are taking place.
