Day 8 – Kick Start

As the first week of this study has come to an end, I was wondering, how you are doing in the thirty-day challenge?  I pray that you are beginning to view things differently.  You now know that God is the ultimate power source and we need to be plugged into Him.  We have also discovered that He has planted dreams in each one of us.  We need to step out in faith and take the risk.  God promises to be beside us every step of the way.  At times along life’s journey, no matter how long we have on this earth, it is going to be difficult and we are going to wonder how we will make it through.  All you need to do is realize that God’s power is available to you.  Paul talks about this in Ephesians, “I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him.  It is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead” (Ephesians 1:19-20, TLB).  Talk about power!

In life we are going to fail from time to time.  However, we have the power, through Christ, to get back up and start again.  Besides kick starting our lives after taking a fall, we also need to let go of any guilt we may have.  Christ died on the cross, not only to take away our sin, but also to take away the guilt and shame.  Do not make Christ’s sacrifice on the cross meaningless, by hanging on to the past.  Let it go and get back into the race. As we have talked about before, God has plans for each one of us.  These cannot be realized if we are sitting at the side of the road.  I encourage you today to get on your bike, kick start it and get back in the incredible race that God has laid out for you.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Write a list of all the reasons in the past that you had used to not completely trust God?  Now, what would it take for you to not only fully trust God, but also believe that He can use past failures and disappointments to help you in the future?
  2. What is the greatest fear you have about completely trusting God with your life?  What is reasoning behind this fear?  Write out how you would tackle this fear if you only had one month to live.
  3. Contact someone today, friend or family member, that can help you get back on track.

  1. I think it is very difficult to put your complete trust in anything or anyone, especially the way the world seems to be now. So, I think it tends to make us skeptical and hesitant of trusting anyone to a certain extent, even our Heavenly Father. Also, with me, I think it is partly a control thing. I feel like if I give up everything to God, I am leaving myself very vulnerable. Deep down I know He wants what is best for me and He will always take care of me, but I think I fear that if I turn everything over to Him, I might end up losing what is dearest to me, as some sort of test. Not that I have anything Biblical to base that on, it is just my fear.

    • Fear can easily take over if we are not on guard. However, we must remember that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). I know from experience that it is a lot easier said than done. However, God does have our best interest in mind. We just can’t see the big picture. We have to give Him control and not try and take it back.
