The word that best describes the past few weeks is crazy. I do not know if any of you can identify or not. The older kids are back in school, which means nightly homework, practices to pick them up from and meets to attend and cheer at. Then, there is school with Quintin and the daily tasks of taking care of Maddy and the house. The garden has been plentiful this year, which means lots of harvesting and canning. It seems like the more I get done, the more that needs to be done. I feel simply overwhelmed the majority of the time. Some days I do not know how I will be able to accomplish everything that needs done. I find myself trying to keep everything “held up” on my own. In my own strength, I simply fail time after time, which leads to frustration. However, there is a solution to this problem. Like the children of Israel in Isaiah 33:2, “O Lord, have pity on us. We wait with hope for you. Be our strength in the morning. Yes, be our savior in times of trouble,” I need to cry out to the Lord for His help and strength. We are not meant to carry the burden on our own. God is more than willing to take our burden from us. We simply need to ask. He desires to be the ultimate weight lifter in your life. The key is for us to give up on trying to hold it all and simply sit back and watch Him lift them away. With our burdens lifted, we can focus on drawing closer to Him and daily giving Him the weights of the world. He will gladly carry them for each and everyone of us.
