Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” is a familiar verse to many people. It happens to be one of my favorites and I believe it to be true. However, I have to admit that there have been times in my life that I find myself asking God, “Why?”, “This is just not fair.”, “Why can’t you take this trial from me, why must I go through it?” and “I just don’t undertstand.” As these questions are floating around in my head, a scripture comes to mind, Isaiah 55:9, “As the heavens are higher than earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” We look at things from a human perspective, but forget that God is God. His ways and thoughts are not like ours. It is hard to comprehend the difference at times. Have you ever looked at the back of a piece of tapestry? It is an absolute mess. There are various colored threads going here and there, sometimes there are even knots to tie off one color before starting another. From this side, you can not even tell that there is anything beautiful that could come out of it. However, simply turning it over you see the masterpiece that has been made. It all comes down to persepctive. The same is true of our lives. Many times, we can only see the “mess”, but God, the master weaver, is making our lives into a masterpiece. We have to lean on Him and trust Him even when we do not understand. We can rest assured that God not only understands, but has it all under control. God longs to make our lives into a masterpiece, but we need to let Him weave into us the threads to make that happen. Sometimes they are not our choosing, but God has a plan and a purpose for everyone. Let Him mold and make you into His masterpiece.
